Government Cuts Subsidised LPG Cylinder Quota Under Ujjwala Scheme, Domestic Gas Prices Raised Again

The government has reduced the annual quota of subsidised LPG cylinders under the Prime Minister's Ujjwala Scheme to four per year while simultaneously increasing domestic LPG prices by Rs 29 per cylinder. The latest revision raises domestic gas rates in Jaipur to Rs 945.50 and impacts multiple cylinder categories.

In a major decision affecting beneficiaries of the Prime Minister's Ujjwala Scheme, the government has reduced the number of subsidised Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders available annually. Under the revised policy, eligible households will now receive only four subsidised LPG cylinders per year.

The decision comes alongside another increase in domestic cooking gas prices. Domestic LPG cylinder rates have been raised by Rs 29 per cylinder, resulting in a fresh burden on consumers. Following the latest revision, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder in Jaipur has increased to Rs 945.50.

The information was shared by Deepak Gehlot, President of the Gas Distributors Federation. According to the federation, the hike in domestic LPG prices was announced at midnight and came into effect from this morning.

This is the second major increase in domestic LPG prices this year. Earlier, on March 1, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 60. With the latest revision, consumers will now pay Rs 945.50 for a domestic LPG cylinder instead of the previous rate of Rs 916.50.
